GREAT QUALITY PUMP FOR A GREAT PRICE! July 24, 2010 Christin M. De Meo (Glen Rock, NJ USA) Purchased to remove 2500Gal. 4FT deep above ground swimming pool via a 150FT hose to the street which took a few hours (4+), so the 2500GPH rating is probably effected by the depth of the water as well as the hose size and length. Left almost no water at the bottom. Same with a neighbors much larger 5FT deep above ground pool which took a a couple of hours longer.
Also used with a 16FT.hose for emptying a 75gal fish tank within minutes directly out a basement window to the garden for the great nutrients and to save water as well as saving a back breaking job of using buckets and containers. I recommend pushing any substrate (gravel/rocks) to one side of the tank or remove to prevent possible damage to the unit.
Also great by the pool-side at the bottom of a large container of sun-warmed water for rinsing off after swimming using a 4FT hose with a garden sprayer attachment set on the shower setting which provides a slightly lower flow than an in-home shower of which can also be controlled (on/off) with sprayer handle.
Just a few of many uses.
Very satisfied since purchasing almost 2 years ago and still remains at the same price which is pleasantly surprising, therefore, I would suggest purchasing asap before the price goes up...even at an increased price, it would still be well worth the investment for such a high quality product!!!
Underwhelmed with flow June 14, 2010 Ski Doc (Wilson,WY United States) I'm underwhelmed with the flow from this pump. It took well over an hour to drain my hot tub with only about a 2 foot head. I am using a garden hose which is certainly restricting the flow somewhat. But should still be able to drain a hot tub with about 750 gallons of water in less than an hour since the pump is rated at 2500 gph. I may try it with 1 1/2" drain tubing to see how much better that is... but that hose is awkward/bulky.
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Poor flow
Need better description of product April 17, 2010 B. Marcoux (Massachusetts) The pump works fine but it needs to be in no less than 4-5 inches of water. It's *not* like other utility sump pumps that can sit on the floor and pump the water out down to 1/4". Therefore, it didn't do me any good as I don't have a sump hole to put it in.
Great pump, did the job! April 14, 2010 B. Akrawi (TN) I purchased this pump to remove rain water that collected on my pool cover. I bought a 1 1/4 inch discharge hose kit from a local home store because it was cheaper than Amazon. The pump worked great and did exactly what it is supposed to do...remove water. I plugged it in and it immediately started removing the water. There were leaves and other debris in the water that did not create any problems for the pump. The discharge power was good. I am happy with the pump. I really have no other use for it yet, so it will be used annually for that purpose until another need arises (I hope none arise).
WAYNE VIP50 UTILITY PUMP April 12, 2010 A. Mercadante (BOSTON) EXCELLENT UTILITY PUMP THAT I USE TO REMOVE WATER FROM MY POOL COVER. SMALL OBJECTS GET PUMP THROUGH THE PUMP & HOSE. CAN USE A GARDEN HOSE OR A 1 1/4" DISCHARGE HOSE. THE ONLY NEGITIVE IS THAT VERY LARGE LEAVES WILL CLOG THE PUMP. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS TO REMOVE WATER FROM A POOL COVER.
