Amazon.com Product Description The Wayne 1/2 HP cast iron submersible sump pump is designed for work in sump pits 11 inches or larger. Its ceramic mechanical seal keeps this pump going in even the most demanding environments, and the 1 1/2-inch discharges creates maximum flow and ensures easy installation. It works 9 inches on level or 4 inches off level. A two-pole switch prevents basement flooding in the event that one pole sticks, and disconnecting 115-volt conductors prevent damage from lightning. The automatic overload mechanism prevents damage to motor windings, permanently lubricated ball bearings need no oiling, and the waterproof three-prong grounding wire with an 8-foot extension reaches distant outlets. Wayne backs its pump with a three-year limited warranty.

As always, Wayne pumps are great. July 1, 2010 GLVR (N.E. Ohio) This pump came quickly and is sturdy as are all Wayne pumps. I use them exclusively because they can be repaired easily with parts from the company relatively inexpensively. Mine all last beyond the 3 year warranty period with no breakages.
Bad impeller design, cheap plastic spins free on motor shaft. April 20, 2010 Redhead_men (Racing Capital of the World.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Within 1 months time I had 2, 1/2 half horse power cast iron sump pumps flood a basement because the plastic impeller connection to the motor shaft had enlarge to the point where it spun free on the shaft. They were both the previous version of the 1/2 HP cast iron pump. The CDU800 has the same plastic impeller. One pump was 3 years old from date of manufacture, the other 17 months. Both locations only pump ground water and run just occasionally when it rains hard. Without any local parts and service agents, you have to buy new and then order parts and repair if possible. Having the cast iron housing and stainless screen mean nothing if the impeller is just plastic junk. My previous Zoller pumps had lasted more than 10 years. They were made in America. Wayne leads you to beleive that they are made in America & Canada, but a local pump repair shop said they were Chinese pumps. Parts are only available from Wayne and it takes 5 days to ship from Hamilton Ohio (or whereever) to Indianapolis Indiana. Replaced both with Zoller, But I am not sure these are even made in US any more.
great pump April 11, 2010 The Captain (Philadelphia Pa USA) This is the third Wayne pump I have purchased for my french drain in basement over the last 18 yrs. They have all worked very well and are very dependable. I always replace after 6 yrs for peace of mind . Always make sure the pump is sitting straght up for the float to work properly.
wayne sump pump February 22, 2010 randy 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
have used this brand of pump for about 15 years, the motor/pump part is great, the water sensing switch is the weak link. the float arm corrodes and fails in about 2-3 years (water softener dumps into this sump, the brine is bad news on the pump). i consider the pump a maintance item and replace every 2 years--cheap insurance.
Junk right out of the box. February 21, 2010 David F. Jacobson Jr. 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This thing failed me right out of the box. Just when I needed it most it let me down. I tried to disassemble it to see what was the problem and I broke it. The motor ran but it didnt pump. I thought that the close valve was installed backwards, so I followed the manuals directions to troubleshoot. To those people who like to gamble at a bargain, like this 50% off, be very careful.
